Experienced Teacher. Special Needs Mom. Diverse Learner Advocate.
I believe that all children deserve an education that serves their unique needs. I want to help families find and acquire the support their children need to succeed in school and life. As an experienced teacher, I know intimately the particularities of various school systems; I have worked in independent schools, charter schools, suburban and urban public schools, and early childhood centers. I am licensed by the Illinois State Board of Education. I have written and executed multiple Individualized Education Plans (IEP), 504 plans, and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP). Additionally, my own son is a diverse learner. Leo has Fragile X Syndrome, and I worked tirelessly to advocate and negotiate for extensive services for him through Early Intervention and later in his IEP. Programs for children with diverse needs are often difficult to navigate, and most parents do not know their rights. I will help you understand the school, state, federal, and private opportunities available to your child and make sure that you can get them. Let’s consult!
